Willoughby & Co

I’m not one to eat sushi in a crowded mall. Seated at tiny tables. Cacophony of conversations swirling around me. Waiters rushed off their feet.

But I’ll always make an exception for Willoughby & Co at the V&A Waterfront in Cape Town.

There’s almost always a queue (their sushi is that good) but they do offer free wine tasting whilst queuing which I love. More restaurants should do this.

In terms of the actual sushi, well, it’s exceptional. For lunch, my sister and I prefer having their tuna cut rolls (the most delicious mix of tuna, avocado, caviar, sesame seeds and mayo). For dinner, the rainbow reloaded rolls are a firm favourite. Sweet soya sauce, 7-spice, sesame oil and chopped spring onion, sprinkled with sesame seeds. Heaps of sesame seeds and mayo. Freshest salmon. I mean what could be better?

If you’re new to Willoughby’s & Co, the 4x4 platter is a must to sample. 4 rainbow reloaded, 4 spicy creamy rock shrimp roll. One of their signature dishes for sure.
